The Anti-slug Metarex M Compo is a granular product designed to protect crops from the attacks of these terrestrial gastropods. Its main active ingredient is metaldehyde (2.5% w/w), a pesticide that is highly effective and works through ingestion. Once the mollusks consume the product, the reaction is immediate: the snails and slugs become immobilized and begin to secrete an excessive amount of slime, which destroys their mucus-producing cells and causes their death.

The danger of snails and slugs in crops

Snails and slugs are herbivores with a preference for calcium-rich leaves and fresh stems, leading them to cause significant damage to plants. Their activity is concentrated in the wettest months of spring (March and April), which is precisely when crops are starting to grow and are more susceptible to damage.

Proven effectiveness in any environmental context

This molluscicide is highly resistant and effective in adverse conditions, such as environments with fog or high humidity, where snails and slugs tend to be more active, especially during the night and early morning hours. Additionally, this product is formulated with a bittering agent that deters pets from ingesting it, ensuring safe application in areas where pets may be present.

Directions for use

• Dosage: 17.5g/10m per crop per year
• Apply in the sowing furrow or planting line.
• Applications will be more effective if done before crop emergence (for annual crops) or before damage is observed (for perennial crops).
• It is recommended to use this product under high humidity conditions due to the high activity of gastropods.
• Immediate effect after ingestion.
• During the 7 days before sowing, perform 1 or 2 treatments across the entire field.
• If applied during sowing: 1 treatment across the entire field and/or 1 treatment in the furrow.
• Once the crop begins to emerge: perform a maximum of two treatments.
• Maintain a minimum interval of 5 days between consecutive applications.
