Buying Mushroom Grow Kits in GB The green Brand
At GB The Green Brand we try hard to have the best mushroom varieties in the world injected into great grow kits, in order for them to grow properly. If the rye substrate, the packaging or the inoculated fungi weren’t of the best possible quality, we wouldn't offer these kits to our customers, therefore, we can assure you that GB The Green Brand’s grow kits are exceptional.
The inoculated fungi and its medium need to be preserved in perfect conditions prior to their sale. For this purpose, we have various refrigerators exclusively used to store and conserve the grow kits and make sure that the cold chain doesn’t break upon reception, as this would affect the inoculated fungi, making it unproductive.
How to Grow Magic Mushrooms
All grow kits work in a similar way, thus, by following the steps properly, you'll obtain good results. Mushrooms are easily contaminated, for this reason, it’s very important to keep the area very clean, including the utensils used to manipulate the mushrooms.
The first thing that needs to be done is fill the container with water and cover it to hydrate the rye, we recommend using osmosis or bottled water. Close it for 24h. Once the time is up, open one corner of the container and drain the water carefully.
Open the growth bag and place the container inside it without the lid, add a bit of water to the bag for humidity levels to stay high. Temperature should range between 18°C-25ºC for the shrooms to thrive successfully, but they aren’t keen on direct heat. It’s better to use a heater to heat up the entire room than direct heat under the grow kit. They should be exposed to either natural light or fluorescent light. If using fluorescent lighting, a 12/12h cycle is more than enough.
The bag should be opened three times a day, as it’s important for the mycelium to receive fresh air. Within approximately 7 days, mushrooms will start to brout. They take around 7-10 to mature, therefore, the whole process takes more or less 15 days.
How and When to Harvest Magic Mushrooms
Magic mushrooms need to be harvested before they fully open up and let their spores out, otherwise they’ll contaminate the container and you won’t get a second batch out of it. Collect the ones that are ready and leave the small ones until they are bigger. Mushrooms are harvested by twisting the stem because if you cut them they could contaminate the rye.
Once they’ve been collected, scrape off the rye and remove leftovers. Fill the container with water again and drain 24 h later. Place it inside the bag and add a bit of water and repeat all the steps when the second batch is ready. If done properly, these kits could produce 3 or 4 batches.
