This test was the first to detect ecstasy, and remains the reference test.

Increasingly, substances threaten to be ecstasy, versus other counterfeit substances that, when adulterated with other compounds, can cause serious side effects like nausea, anxiety, insomnia, and in worst cases, death. With this test, you can easily and quickly detect whether a substance is pure ecstasy based on MDMA or contains other psychoactive substances.

Which substances does it detect?

This test detects the presence (not quantity) of the following substances:

• Ecstasy, MDMA/MDA
• Methylone, butylone, naphyrone
• Amphetamine and methamphetamine
• DXM (dextromethorphan)
• 2C-x compounds

How does the Ecstasy detector work?

The ampoule contains a chemical reagent that, when contacting a small sample, reacts and changes color. Compare this color with the included results chart.

Usage instructions

To test a substance, follow these steps:

1. Break the ampoule.
2. Insert a small amount of the sample.
3. Place the plastic cap and shake well.
4. Compare the color change with the results chart.

Warning: After testing, remember to safely dispose of the vial and sample.

Results interpretation

When mixing the substance with the ampoule solution, it will turn different colors:

• Purple: Detects pure ecstasy or MDMA/MDA.
• Yellow: Detects synthetic cathinones (e.g., methylone, butylone, naphyrone); for more specific analysis, use the cocaine cutting test.
• Red/Orange: Indicates amphetamine or methamphetamine.
• Black/Grayish: Detects DXM (dextromethorphan).
• Light Green: Detects 2C-x compounds.
• No significant color change: No detectable amounts of tested substances.
