Tanita 1479J2 Scale

Calibration of the scale

• To calibrate the Tanita 1479J2 scale, a certified weight of 200 grams is required. 
• Press and hold the TARE/CAL button for 3 seconds. After this, the display will flash "200 g".
• Set the certified weight of 200 grams to calibrate the scale. In case of success, these messages will be displayed in the following order: CALIb -> End -> 200.00g.
• Calibration was successful.
• In case of a failed calibration, the message "Err2" will be shown on the display. Normally, this occurs when the weight used exceeds 200g.

Method of use

• Before starting to use the scale, it is recommended to calibrate the scale (see section "Calibration of the scale").
• Place the scale horizontally on a stable place.
• When the device is switched on, the figures "0.00", "0.000" or "0.0" will be displayed, depending on the mode selected. The scale is ready.
• Place the object to be measured on the platform.
• The weight of the object will appear on the display.
• It is very important not to exceed 200g in weight. In this case, the display will show "EEEEE".

• Unit of Measurement Change: The Tanita 1479J2 works with the following units of measurement: g (gram), oz (ounce), ozt (troy ounce), dwt (deadweight), ct (metric carat) and grain. 
• TARE function: This function allows objects to be weighed after an external platform has been placed. Once placed, the weight of the platform will be displayed. To return to 0 and be able to weigh an object on it, the TARE/CAL button must be pressed. 
• Automatic switch-off: The scale will automatically switch off if the weight on the display remains unchanged for 2 minutes. This automatic switch-off can be customised to 0, 2, 5, 10, 20, 30 or 60 minutes. To do this, the TARE/CAL and ON/OFF buttons must be held down simultaneously. After this, the current setting will be displayed. The MODE button is used to increase the figure, while the TARE/CAL button decreases the figure. To save the desired setting, press the ON/OFF button.
• Battery replacement: When the batteries are exhausted, the message "Lo" will appear on the display and the unit will switch off, requiring battery replacement to resume operation. It is very important to dispose of used batteries in a suitable container or hand them in to the shop where they were purchased. Under no circumstances should they be mixed with ordinary waste.
• Illumination of the screen: The display will cease to be illuminated after five seconds of inactivity.

• Do not disassemble the scale.
• Do not expose the scale to sunlight or use it in places with vibrations.
• Do not subject the scale to sudden temperature's changes, as this may affect the measurement. 
• Do not pour liquid substances on the scale.
• Do not use the scales near heat sources such as microwaves, ovens, heaters...
• Store the scale in a dry, cool and dust-free place.
• In the event of constant errors or faults, change the batteries before contacting customer service. If necessary, put the device and its battery back in its box and prepare it for transport.
• Do not place any objects on the scale when it is switched off.
• To avoid measurement errors, do not use the scale while using devices that generate radio waves, such as mobile phones.
