How to grow indoors step by step

Winter is coming with the indoor growing season. As temperatures drop, it becomes easier to maintain optimal indoor growing conditions for both heat and humidity during the initial stages of plant growth. If you want to learn how to grow indoors step by step, you’ll need to start first by germinating your marijuana seeds. This way, you can plant and harvest every 3 months in your grow tent or area.

How to start growing indoors

The first thing to take into account is everything you’ll be needing to start growing indoors. Here are some steps to consider and follow:

Choosing the right seed

In regards to choosing seeds, one must choose the strain that best adapts to their needs and preferences. Thus, you can find a wide range of both feminized and autoflowering seeds in our online store, where you’ll find lots of cheap seeds. In addition, we also stock different varieties of indoor cannabis seeds and CBD-rich seeds.

Choosing the area to grow indoors

The indoor growing area is also important as it may have adequate dimensions. Likewise, it is advisable to have a window near to place the extraction system. This way, we’ll ensure proper ventilation and thus the necessary characteristics to allow a quality indoor growth.

Besides, we must also take into account the temperature and the artificial weather conditions of our room.

Choosing the best lightning system

To determine the power you need for your indoor cultivation, you must take into account several factors, such as the available space for growing indoors. You will need to measure the space you have, and based on that, you will choose the power of your grow light. Some of the options are:

  • 250w: for a 80 x 80 x 160 cm (2.5 x 2.5 x 5 ft) area.
  • 400w: for a 100 x 100 x 200 cm (3 x 3 x 6.5 ft) area.
  • 600w: for a 100 x 100 x 200 cm (3 x 3 x 6.5 ft) area with the assistance of a Cooltube, or for a 120 x 120 x 200 cm (4 x 4 x 6.5 ft) area with a regular reflector and a good extractor.
  • For areas larger than 120 x 120 x 200 cm (4 x 4 x 6.5 ft), you will need to use a 600w light for every square meter/feet of cultivation.

When it comes to cultivation, you should adjust the number of seeds based on the available power. For a 250w light, it’s recommended not to plant more than 4 feminized indoor seeds. With a 400w light, you should not exceed 6-8 seeds, while in those with 600w, it’s advisable not to go beyond 12 seeds.

To facilitate this process, you can choose a grow tent to easily maintain the correct parameters for plant development.

Other factors to consider

  • Choose a substrate that suits the humidity and heat conditions. Selecting the right substrate is crucial for your cultivation.
  • Install a timer to control the hours of light. Always try to maintain temperatures around 77ºF (25°C) at the tops of the plants and 68ºF (20°C) when they are less active.
  • Ensure you have fertilizers that provide the necessary nutrients for your plants.
  • Invest in a proper extraction system to continually renew the air. It’s essential to utilize all available nutrients in the environment for the plants’ proper development.

How long does it take to grow indoors?

The cultivation time will depend on various factors such as the seeds’ genetics or the timing of the photoperiod/light cycle change. On average, an indoor cultivation takes between 3 and 5 months. Thus, we must take into consideration the following factors:

  • After 20-25 days growing indoors, you will switch into the flowering stage. At this point, you’ll have to change the photoperiod, and you can start using a flowering stimulator.
  • Around 35-40 days after changing the hours of light, you’ll enter the fattening phase by adding a high PK (phosphorus and potassium) component to your flowering fertilizer.
  • After 3 weeks of using it, the resin will mature, and the plant will require minimal water. This is when you should initiate the root flush to prepare for harvesting. You can flush the roots by using plain water for irrigation only for 10 days or by employing other available products.
  • Harvest the plant when it begins to lose color.
  • Once harvested, you can trim it with scissors or a bud trimmer and start the drying and curing process.

Once you’ve finished all this process, you can start growing again and again to keep improving your cultivation skills in order to achieve better yields than before.
