Boom Nutrients is bringing out their star products when it comes to adjust and keeping a close eye on pH levels in your grow water with pH- Boom and its sister product, pH+ Boom. pH- Boom is designed to decrease the pH in your water and nutrient solution thanks to its phosphoric acid (H3PO4). It’s a super-concentrated product, so you only have to use 1ml or less in order to efficiently adjust pH.
When it comes to planting cannabis (and any other type of plant) you’ll need to keep in mind the pH levels in your water or nutrient solution. This is incredibly important; pH levels are what decide if your plants’ roots can actually absorb the nutrients that you’re giving them. If the pH isn’t right, your plants may begin showing nutrient deficiencies or even signs of over-feeding, and they won’t be able to effectively absorb anything you give them, depending on the severity of the case.
The perfect pH can depend on what type of grow you’re doing, although the general rule is that 5.5 – 5.8 is perfect for the vegging period and 6.2 – 6.8 is ideal for when they’re in bloom.
In order to know if you need to adjust the pH in your nutrient solution you’ll need to have some sort of pH meter on hand that’s either chemical or digital; digital meters are generally better in the long run when properly calibrated, especially if you have a lot of plants or you grow a few different times a year. If, when you measure your water’s pH, it’s too high, you’ll need to use about 0.5-1ml of pH- Boom and measure again after shaking and letting it sit. After each process you need to make sure to mix well and then let it sit for a few minutes so that it can settle.
In hydroponic systems we recommend checking the pH every couple of days in order to guarantee stability; you shouldn’t see any large fluctuations.
