What are the benefits when using LEC lighting?

One new discovery made was that plants grow stronger and healthier if grown under lights that have blue and red tones, as these colors are much easier for plants to absorb.  This kind of lighting LEC lighting, was designed based on the idea of taking the new information learnt about how plants feed off of light and putting into grow lamps – thus, creating a sort of half-way light much cheaper than LED lights that also guarantees more yield per watt than HPS lights.

Difference between LED and LEC

The use and installation of LEC bulbs or LEC equipment is practically the same as that of sodium equipment, so they are perfect for beginners or for those who want to change the type of lighting without stressing out. However, compared to these, LEC offers better light quality, a wider PAR range more usable by the plant, generate less heat and produce a higher percentage of g/w. The price of LEC bulbs is usually quite affordable and allow us to maintain ideal temperatures without the need for heating equipment during the winter. In the case of wanting to grow with them in summer, it is necessary to use air conditioners.

The use and installation of LED lights or LED equipment is a little more complicated, since depending on the system purchased and its functionality, it may cost us a couple of crops to take full advantage of the benefits it offers. This is because most of them install a program to manage the light spectrum through an APP or button system to be able to modify it according to the state of the plant, although there are also those with fixed characteristics without the possibility of any modification. In this sense, LED and LEC equipment offer similar features, however with LED equipment we can grow during the hottest months, but we will need support for the coldest months.
