Oidium Resistant Strains

Opting for cannabis strains that are resistant to oidium is generally the best choice when you can’t find any other option to get rid of this damn fungus in your crops. Many people have these issuesOidium Resistant Strains all the time, so today we’re going to talk about which strains the best at dealing with one of the most annoying mildews ever, oidium.

You’ve probably cleaned your room or grow tent a thousand times, disinfected the flowerpots, reflectors, extractors, tubes, nooks and crannies, haven’t you? And I bet that by the time comes, your plants still end up plagued with oidium.

Oidium is a fungus that is extremely persistant; once it’s affected your plant then it will be there forever. It makes its home in the plants cell walls and it can hibernate there all winter just to pop back up during the spring time, go into hiding during the summer and pop back up in the autumn. It acts by covering the leaves and branches on your plants with a thin powdery fungi substance, although it needs quite specific humidity and temperature conditions. Once one of your plants has been affected you’ll need to treat it until the end of its days as this fungi doesn’t go away until the plant’s dead.

There’s not very many ways of avoiding having to visit your plants every week to take care of them, but not everyone has that amount of time to spend on their plants. The only fool proof solution is to plant oidium resistant strains. They might not be immune, but they’re less likely to get infected than any other strains. This might be due to the genes used to create these plants, and their ancestors which are from Africa and South America. They had to put up with a lot of humidity, which probably gave them that extra resistance. They’re able to adapt, rather than become completely immune. If you use the minimal amount of preventive treatments on your plants, we’re sure that you can forget about fungi ruining your crop.

The most oidium resistant cannabis strains

Bangi Haze Regular: This beauty is a sativa hybrid from Nepal and the Congo, developed in Galicia which is one of the most humid places in Spain thanks to its low temperatures. Growing marijuana outdoors here can be a real challenge. This strain will flower in climates that other plants would even die in. They grow compact and potent buds that are covered in resin. It has a stimulating effect with a licorice and flowery taste.

Shark (CBD Seeds): This strain comes with a specific description by their seed bank that it has never had issues with this fungus, so this is probably the best option for you if you’re still skeptical. They grow quite quick indoors, with just a 7 week flowering period, a strong smell and a large yield. It has an incensed-earthy taste, similar to Dutch Dragon. The trichome production is outstanding, so you can make amazing extracts with the leftovers if you want.

Cum Laude (Positronics): This plant makes for an incredibly pleasing smoke; its amazing citric smell will linger in your mouth for hours thanks to the amount of terpenes in this beauty. This strain is quite used to humid climates, and is practically immune to all kinds of fungi thanks to the shape of its flowers and how airy they are. If treated properly you can get a large production from these plants.

Pakistan Chitral Kush (ACE Seeds): This is one of the few 100% indica strains that are resistant to oidium and botrytis, so they’ll need a little bit of taking care of but they should do fine anyway. Also one of the few indicas that can put up with rain, which is unlike other kushes as they tend to rot easily.

So, each of these strains is more resistant to fungi, especially oidium, than other strains. All you’ll need to do is spray your plants with propolix once every 15 days and they should be fine. Repeat once a month until the flowering period begins. You can rest assured that your plants won’t get infected with oidium.
