Legal ways to consume marijuana
The use of medicinal marijuana has had an impressive impact world-wide; more and more countries are beginning to allow the use of this revolutionary medicine. There are a huge amount of benefits to be gained from marijuana, due to the fact that new cannabinoids are being constantly discovered, and new properties right alongside them. We already know that marijuana has a myriad of benefits when it comes to serious illnesses like multiple sclerosis and cancer, but it can also be used to treat less serious issues like muscle pain, insomnia and appetite loss. Millions of people reap the medicinal benefits of marijuana, which means that companies needed to think of new ways to sell marijuana that weren’t just in a smokeable format.
A lot of people that use cannabis medicinally are older and have never smoked marijuana and nowadays these sorts of patients can get their medicine through things like food and drink without having to smoke it. All of these legal ways of consuming marijuana are completely different to the reality we’re faced with here in Spain, so we’ll explain them to you today so you can widen your scope of knowledge.
Cannabis based foods can be found in American dispensaries, where thousands of patients bring their recipes. In these dispensaries you can find a large range of food with a high THC and CBD content, depending on the patients’ personal needs. You can also find marijuana by gram in dispensaries, where they’ll have a clear indication of the THC-CBD ratio of each strain.
Cannabis cakes or space cakes: In Spain, more and more people are beginning to make their own cannabis cakes. That’s amazing, but wouldn’t it be better to buy it ready-made knowing that the taste and effect are going to be much better? This is exactly what’s happened in countries where medicinal or recreational cannabis is legal; in Amsterdam they perfected the art of making space cakes, and they became famous world-wide. The sugar in the chocolate makes the THC reach your blood faster, so when the first space cakes were made they realized that they needed to start making similar products. This ended up in the creation of brownies and all sorts of little cakes that were extremely successful due to their potency and amazing taste.
Cookies: This is an amazing way of consuming medicinal marijuana. If consumed during breakfast, your stomach will spend most of the morning processing it, meaning that the effects can last well into the evening. Just one of these cookies has a THC content of over 2g, meaning that the effect is quite potent.
Sweet creams: Grab a slice of bread, and spread some of this amazing cream on it to enjoy its spectacular effects; many medicinal cannabis users use this product every day. Who hasn’t heard of peanut butter? This amazing spread is a fan favorite in America, so its cannabis version is obviously well-received. It has a high THC level, giving strong psychoactive effects. There’s a whole range of flavors, like peanut, walnut and chocolate. One 250ml tub can have up to 3.2g of THC.
Tea: Cannabis infusions are designed to leave its consumer completely relaxed due to its high CBD levels; it doesn’t come with any psychoactive effects. These kinds of infusions have an immediate, long-lasting effect, causing consumers to wake up without remembering having fallen asleep.
Energy drinks: In Spain you can find energetic hemp drinks, but they have no cannabinoids in their ingredients. In countries where it’s completely legal to use medicinal cannabis, these sorts of drinks have high THC levels, which when mixed with caffeine and sugars in the drink, cause an energizing effect in both body and mind.
Sweets and candy: Many products can be made from oil extractions, but one of the most sought out products is cannabis lollipops that release all of their potential when sucked on. There are two types; those that are made from cannabis oils, and therefore have medicinal properties, and those that are just normal candy with flavoring, which obviously have no medicinal or psychoactive effects.
It seems like the day when marijuana is legalized for medicinal use in Spain is still far away, so right now you can only enjoy CBD rich products unless you make your own at home. We’ll keep uploading cannabis recipes so you can make your own products at home, until the day that we can all buy them in dispensaries.
